EAST
MAYO FORESTRY CO-OPERATIVE:
The aim of the
East Mayo Forestry Co-operative
is to increase farm income and productivity through converting
non-agricultural areas of farms into viable woodlands to optimise the
economic, social and environmental impact of farmer forestry for the farmer
and his community.
Services provided for
Co-op members:

Information and Guidance.

Free feasibility
inspections for farmers with less that 6 Ha. Of woodland.

Organisation of group
insurance, legal support and other ancillary services.

Provision of a choice of
Management Services (Contractors) at the same cost per hectare for big
and small plantations.

Environmental issues:
development of forestry to enhance than suppress the natural beauty of
the countryside.

Provision of a co-operative
structure through which other relevant development agencies can
operate more effectively.

Newsletter to keep farmers
informed of topical issues.
-
Organisation of field
trips, demonstrations and seminars in conjunction with other
development agencies.

KILTIMAGH
COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT GROUP:
The FÁS Community Employment Programme is run each year in Kiltimagh
with approximately 20 places on the overall project. The programme includes
training and self-development for all participants and enhances entry into
the workforce.
The type of work
involves assisting various groups with their projects. Some of the projects
