The Metropolitan Area Network (MAN):
Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo is among the first
19 towns across Ireland to rollout Broadband Internet access through a new
government initiative which saw each of these towns have a Metropolitan Area
Network (MAN) installed. The MAN involves the availability of Broadband over
a FIBRE OPTIC connection which opens the door to a whole range of services
and immense Bandwidth.
Through a partnership involving IRD
Kiltimagh Ltd., e|net,
Westnet, Mayo County Council,
CMS Peripherals Ltd., and BT, a
programme was put in place that has seen the MAN "lit" and made active and
now, all businesses, state facilities and others with a large requirement
for bandwidth can avail of services of up to 1Gbit over the MAN.
This opens the doors for Kiltimagh to
attract high technology industries to the area as a result. Businesses with
high bandwidth or even just high "upload" bandwidth requirements can now
develop their businesses in Kiltimagh.

DSL for Business and Home:
Eircom have
entered the market in Kiltimagh and have enabled the local exchange for
ADSL Broadband.
A full range of Broadband products for both business
and residential users, is available right now, with download speeds up to
7Mbit.
Outside the DSL Catchment?
We are currently in discussions with other suppliers
regarding the provision of Broadband to those outside the Eircom catchment
area, i.e. more than 3 km from the exchange. This will probably be a
wireless based system. More details will appear here as they emerge. If
this option is of interest to you, you should register your interest with
IRD Kiltimagh Ltd. immediately. The more interest there is the more likely
the service is to be provided. Products offered on the wireless option will
be comparable both in terms of service and price with the Eircom Products. Email
